I believe the mistake here was when Daniel bet on the river. Certainly the final check of Gus looked suspicious and a professional like Daniel should have figured that out and a check on the river would have done the trick. He would have saved a lot of money.

He bet because he honestly thought he had the better hand, fullhouse is an excellent winning hand, just not in this one. You bet when you believe you have the best hand, if you are at the river and you don't have a bead on what the opponent has, then why are you even there at the river to begin with? Daniel is a pro.

Daniel is my favourite poker player...no doubt he is one of the best, his reading is amazing. Here though he made a mistake. A big one. You don't need to bet on the river(if you are out of position), unless you have 100% the nuts or you are at least losing from one hand. Here Daniel was losing from three. He shouldn't have bet.
